If you own a dog that is reactive to strangers then you know what I am talking about. You may have just adopted a dog and find out your new member of the family is scared when a stranger comes into the home.
The dog might bark, lunge and give warning signs doing their best to create distance between them and the stranger.
Your not alone! This can happen and we all need to listen to what the dog is saying. Now would be a good time to call a professional certified dog trainer in for help.
Good management can be used to help your dog and to prevent bites. Putting a dog in a separate room with a stuffed KONG and mind stimulation games to him busy. A crate if the dog is crate trained. Using gates in a door way helps too. This should help you until you can get a professional dog trainer in to your home.
The professional dog trainer can then set up a behavior modification plan to help you with this stranger danger your dog is having.
